about

Wakare (別れ) means farewell in Japanese. This Sundanesse folklore song is the authentic evidence in the Japanese colonial era that proof Wates is not include in the Japanese occupying area in the 40's when they build the airport base. Before, this is a very subversive song. Whoever sing this song and the airforce heard, will be in trouble. In Village Video Festival 2016; Hanyaterra and Dito Yuwono artist from Jogjakarta make a colaboration karaoke music video project for this wakare song with help from Wates people. Wates is a north block in Jatisura Village, Jatiwangi, West Java. When Wates people sing this song we can feel the atmosphere combination of happy, sad, angry, hope, regret and love blend together.
